While I enjoyed setting my hammock up outside wherever I could find suitable trees, I dreamt of napping in it on the roof of my apartment building. Because I had to carry it up the stairs, it needed to fold up into a compact package. I settled on a design that incorporated supports made out of super-strong dyneema braided line. By splicing a whoopie sling and fixed loop into each line, I could adjust the length of the lines and get the hammock to sit at its correct height and sag. After disconnecting the carabiner for the support lines, the stand folds up by pivoting around the bolts connecting the diagonal beams to the horizontal base.
