The sunny south-facing window in the kitchen seemed like a great place for some houseplants, but keeping them in individual containers looked cluttered and was time-consuming to water. I used one long board for the front face of the planter, and cut out a small section above the sink to allow clearance for the faucet. I built two separate boxes on either side the faucet cutout, and drilled holes for small drainage tubes leading into the sink. I finished the planter with a durable polyurethane to match the cabinets. After lining the boxes with plastic and filling them with a coarse potting mix, I transplanted some succulent cuttings and installed the box in its new home.
